Leah died in 1924, in a clean bed with a quilt over her legs and a view of the river. Her obituary in the Columbia Spy read simply: “McCLURE—Leah Malloy Weaver McClure, 69, formerly of Bloomsburg. Leah herself was adopted into a Delaware family. In captivity, she learned to tan hides, plant corn, and cook over open fires. She was given a new name, though it is not recorded.
