The film follows four college students—Brit, Candy, Cotty, and Faith—who are desperate to escape their mundane lives for a week of Florida spring break. After three of the girls rob a restaurant to fund the trip, they dive into a world of hedonistic excess until a narcotics bust lands them in jail. They are unexpectedly bailed out by "Alien" (James Franco), a local arms dealer and aspiring rapper, who pulls them into his dangerous criminal world.

The movie acts as a satire of youth culture, rap culture, and the obsession with "escaping reality." It blurs the line between the sexy fun of a music video and the grim reality of violence.
