This paper analyzes the of the obscure Geant GN 1010 Tutan decoder, a device popular among a niche community on the StarTimes forum ( startimes.com ). We reverse-engineer the firmware update, identify key changes in the Conditional Access System (CAS), and demonstrate a practical exploit to extend channel access beyond subscription expiry. The update, dated 27 February 2026, patches a known ECM (Entitlement Control Message) rollback vulnerability but introduces a new buffer overflow in the UART debug interface. We provide a proof-of-concept patch and discuss implications for hobbyist satellite TV in Francophone Africa.
